Amazon India announces a new partner fund to help SMBs in India

Amazon India, the renowned e-commerce company’s Indian division, has reportedly introduced a new partner support fund to aid SMBs (small and medium businesses) in the country that are heavily reliant on the company for their business. The e-commerce giant stated that a lot of SMBs have been massively impacted owing to the nationwide lockdown imposed to contain the outbreak of coronavirus.

This partner fund would be available for the delivery service partners as well as select transportation partners of the company. The initiative would help them better adjust with the new realities created by the nationwide lockdown. From one-time disbursement, this new fund will help the company partners in several ways, one of which is providing financial support to approximately 40,000 of their employees for the month of April 2020.

Furthermore, the e-commerce company would also help to cover some crucial fixed infrastructure expenses, and also support cash flow and liquidity for those businesses while they resume their operations after the restrictions of lockdown are taken off.

Vice-President of APAC, LATAM, and MENA Customer Fulfilment Operations, Amazon, Akhil Saxena stated that the company is committed to keeping the nation safe by providing essentials to consumers at their doorsteps. The company is equally committed to helping its partners in this time of great business disruptions.

Saxena further added that the company’s commitment to the nation and to its partners is long-term, and this partner fund coupled with other measures focuses on helping SMBs to survive and overcome the current situation with a bit more ease.

The Amazon Partner Support Fund comes after the recent announcement of global $25 million ARF (Amazon Relief Fund) in India. ARF can be used by the qualifying individuals who have detected positive for coronavirus or have been quarantined due to its symptoms.
