Amazon to open new fulfillment center with 500 jobs in Coweta County

Brian Kemp, the 83rd Governor of Georgia, has recently announced that Amazon will be launching a new fulfillment center in Newman, adding 500 full-time jobs at the new facility in Coweta County. Employees in the facility will pick, pack, and ship various customer orders.

Mr. Kemp, has expressed his excitement at Amazon rapidly expanding its operations to serve customers in Georgia. The country has been earning the position of No. 1 State of Business for seven years in a row, owing to its top-ranked workforce, logistics infrastructure, and nationally well-known business climate, which is reflected by Amazon’s various investments in the state.

According to the Kemp’s office, the online retail giant had examined various other locations before narrowing down to the site in Newman. The company is planning to lease an area of approximately 1 Mn square feet at The Cubes at Bridgeport in Coweta County.

The decision to choose Coweta County for its new facility by Amazon, one of the largest e-commerce enterprises across the globe has created tremendous fascination and opportunity for growth, claims President of the Coweta County Development Authority, Trae Westmoreland.

Alicia Boler Davis, the Vice President of global customer fulfillment in Amazon, has reportedly touted Georgia as the key area for Amazon’s ability to provide a vast array of products at competitive prices and getting them delivered through high-speed Prime courier services to earn customers’ loyalty. In the new facility, 500 full-time jobs with industry-leading pays and other benefits will be provided from day one to the 3,500 employees who are already working in the company across Georgia.

The new fulfillment facility is the latest among 5 other Amazon fulfillments facilities in metro Atlanta. Amazon also provides additional services across the nation to support other elements of the distribution network.
