Amazon unveils plans for its first El Paso, Texas fulfillment center

Amazon, the renowned technology and e-commerce giant, has reportedly announced its plans to establish its first Amazon fulfillment center facility in El Paso, Texas. The company’s proposed fulfillment center is scheduled to launch in 2021 and is expected to create more than 700 full time jobs with market leading salaries as well as comprehensive benefits.

Amazon Global Customer Fulfillment Vice President, Alicia Boler Davis stated that the company is thrilled to be expanding its footprint in West Texas. The firm also looks forward to growing out its network across El Paso.

Davis further added that the company is grateful for the strong support it received from state and local leaders and looks forward to generate 700 full time jobs for people across El Paso.

El Paso Mayor, Dee Margo stated that at a press conference three years ago, the city had announced its plans to bring Amazon to El Paso and the city finally delivered on that promise. With the strong collaboration and teamwork between the City, Amazon, Borderplex Alliance, and the County, significant strides have been taken together, and the city has a great future.

The new fulfillment center would span over an area of 625,000 square-foot, and Amazon employees would work alongside the company’s robotics to pick, wrap, and deliver small products like toys, electronics, and books to Amazon consumers.

Borderplex Alliance CEO, Jon Barela stated that Amazon is an exceptional company, and this project will be among the most crucial projects of economic development for the region in years. The company has worked persistently with its partners in Amazon to showcase the region’s capabilities and values. Borderplex Alliance is grateful for Amazon’s presence in the city during such adverse economic times and the company is positive that the region would help lead the economic recovery of the nation.
