BBVA partners with El Celler de Can Roca to launch products on Amazon

Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, S.A. (BBVA), a Spanish financial service company, has recently announced its partnership with restaurant chain El Celler de Can Roca to launch the sale of variety of products on Amazon. 

In par with its commitment towards digital transformation, BBVA has commenced its e-commerce journey with a range of items from the Rocambolesc, sweets and chocolates crafted by Jordi Roca to the Michelin three-star restaurant’s recycling project.

Apparently, Roca Recicla is the restaurant’s answer to the issue of minimizing its created wastes. Its mission is to convert waste from a range of materials, providing them another life.

This project would emphasize recycling products like glass bottles into drinking glasses, polystyrene packaging, that is used to transport seafood and fish, into a stylish stool, and low-temperature cooking plastic bags into tote bags, pouches, and aprons. Meanwhile, Rocambolesc items that can be purchased from Amazon, would include many flavors of chocolate bars, candy and nougat.

Sources cite that BBVA plans to offer banking products on the platform, an idea that is yet to be explored completely. However, Amazon has not shown any intention of selling financial services on its platform, but the Spanish company has realized the fact that financial institutions need to adapt to this new method of selling.

Incidentally, the partnership also involves Roca Recicla’s artisanal products that are crafted from restaurant’s items, while 5% of its proceeds are slated to go to a shared project that is based on raising awareness as well as contributing to environmental sustainability.

Since their partnership in 2013, BBVA and El Celler de Can Roca have shared the same values of a global perspective, innovation, sustainability, and leadership. All along these years, both the firms have worked on raising and promoting awareness about small-scale producers and locally sourced products, creating opportunities for students of hospitality, and offering advice that helps SMEs and other consumers to move closer to their goals.
