BPCL launches WhatsApp initiative to facilitate domestic gas booking
  • BPCL has launched a domestic gas booking facility through WhatsApp

  • “Bharat Gas” cylinders can be booked through a Smartline number provided by the company

India’s oil marketing major Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has reportedly launched a business channel on social media platform WhatsApp to facilitate the booking of domestic gas. Bharat Petroleum is ranked as the second largest oil marketing company in India after Indian Oil Corporation.

For the record, BPCL has announced that “Bharat Gas” customers will be able to book their cooking gas through the company’s newly introduced WhatsApp channel. The corporation has provided a BPCL Smartline number – 1800224344 – to enable cylinder booking from the customer’s mobile number registered with BPCL.

According to the Marketing Director at BPCL, Arun Singh, Bharat Petroleum has chosen WhatsApp to introduce this new facility as it is the most commonly used platform across the country. He has further added that this move by the company will bring it closer to its customers.

The Executive Director In-Charge of LPG, T. Peethambaran, has explained that after booking a cylinder on WhatsApp, customers will be receiving a confirmation message along with a link for online payment through any of the channels including debit or credit cards, UPI or other payment apps.

Bharat Petroleum is working to introduce additional features like LPG delivery tracking and customer-feedback along with safety awareness measures, reports Singh.

BPCL has already enabled its customers to book LPG through other channels like IVRS, apps, missed call and website in addition to its strong network of 6,111 distributors.
