FedEx-BigCommerce form alliance to support small & medium businesses

FedEx Corporation has recently announced a new collaboration with an open SaaS e-Commerce platform, BigCommerce. The alliance has been made to enable the efficient functioning of small & medium businesses during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The ongoing pandemic has led several brick-and-mortar businesses to shut down their physical stores and focus on shifting their retail business online. To ensure this, BigCommerce and FedEx are forming an alliance to offer new customers of BigCommerce 4 months of free service as well as discounted shipping rates for FedEx.

According to Randy Scarborough, FedEx’s VP of Customer Engagement Marketing, in the wake of the unprecedented challenges pose by the COVID-19 outbreak, it is crucial that the much-needed goods and services are continuously provided by small & medium businesses. The recent tie-up with BigCommerce will allow these businesses to advance towards online retailing and cater to more customers. He further added that providing seamless shipping experience for small businesses will help them gain success and growth.

In addition, the collaboration will enable the BigCommerce customers to gain access to the shipping discounts provided by FedEx. Through the FedEx Advantage Program, the existing small and medium businesses on the BigCommerce platform will obtain FedEx’s top-tier shipping services and e-Commerce solutions, such as competitive shipping discounts.

FedEx aims to play a major role in supporting small businesses during the coronavirus crisis. It recently joined the alliance of over 40 companies in Stand for Small, which is powered by American Express. The new digital platform will provide small businesses access to significant support during the coronavirus crisis and recovery efforts. Additional opportunities explored by FedEx to assist small businesses include the FedEx Small Business COVID-19 Resources page. The page delivers information to aid business owners while navigating the running of a small company amid the coronavirus pandemic.
