Google gears up to debut shopping platform, plans to take on Amazon

The new shopping platform is reported to welcome the users by their names and show them the tailored suggestions when they log in with the Google account.

Google has moved a step forward to introduce to the citizens of US an e-commerce platform that is expected to take on the largest e-commerce website, Amazon Inc.

Reports have claimed that the idea to initiate a shopping feature lies behind the fact that Google has been losing grounds to Amazon in product searches. Due to this shift, the ad budgets have been moving to the latter on account of its popularity in the global market.

When the users surf the Google Shopping Platform via their Gmail accounts, the feature will greet them by their names and present them the tailored suggestions according to their browsing history.

Reportedly, Google will not be indulging into shipping or warehousing products but is expected to offer the 'Buy with Google Guarantee' on the selected products. If customers seem unsatisfied with the products they have received, Google would look after the refunding as well.

The company has already done trials of its shopping feature in few territories and has eventually rolled it out in the highest potential market, the United States. The platform has yet not been launched outside the US, but the news of its initiation in France has been doing rounds. Experts suggest that this move depicts Google’s global ambitions for its shopping platform.

Speculation has it that the users can enjoy the product offerings from various retailers that Google has partnered with, like Boxed, Walmart, Costco Wholesale and Target.

The complete details on the launch of the new shopping feature by Google remain disclosed as of now.

Headquartered in California, Google is one of the biggest four technology American multinational technology companies involved in specializations in internet-related services and products.
