HCA & CHS close major deals, bolster M&A trends in healthcare industry

HCA Healthcare, one of the leaders of hospital networks in Texas, reportedly stated that the executives of the business have opened a dialogue with the North Cypress Medical Center in Houston. Through this deal, which will possibly be completed by the end of 2018, HCA will add North Cypress Medical Center to its network of hospitals in the Lone Star State.

HCA Healthcare already conducts a quarter of its business in Texas. Last year with some other remarkable purchases, HCA made it to the list of top 10 largest Nashville based acquisitions of 2017. HCA purchased the Tomball Regional Medical Center, a 350-bed facility that was previously owned by Community Health Systems (CHS). The deal was concluded for $135 million. The other deal worth $750 million was the acquisition of three hospitals from the Tenet Healthcare Corp. All three hospitals were located in Houston.

According to reliable reports, Debra Burbridge, Assistant VP, communications, public relations & community engagement for Gulf Coast Division, HCA, stated that with the purchase of North Cypress Medical Center, the presence of HCA in the Greater Houston will be greatly complemented. She added that the doctor owned medical facility is known for its excellent services and physicians.

On the other side of the healthcare industry M&A scenario are three separate sales deals being conducted by Community Health Systems, claim authentic reports. Community Health Systems will be selling one of its hospitals in Louisiana and three hospitals located in Tennessee. The largest deal was signed with West Tennessee Healthcare, which took over 3 hospitals under the Tennova brand in Martin, Jackson and Dyersburg. The hospitals have a combined capacity of 475 beds.

The company has also concluded the sale of Tennova Healthcare, located in the east of Nashville to the Florida-based Rennova Health. Tennova Healthcare has a capacity of 85 beds. In Louisiana, CHS has closed the sale of Byrd Regional Hospital, which has a capacity of 60 beds, to Allegiance Health Management, which runs more than a dozen facilities in the state.
