HCA Healthcare, Google Cloud launch COVID-19 National Response Portal

American healthcare firm- HCA Healthcare and Google Cloud – a cloud platform offered by Google have reportedly joined hands to introduce COVID-19 National Response Portal, an open data platform network developed by SADA.

Apparently, the platform runs on Google Cloud and aims at facilitating data-sharing regarding the novel coronavirus outbreak and as to how it is spreading. The initiative focuses on helping the hospitals and communities to adequately prepare and respond to the rapidly increasing cases.

Notably, the COVID-19 National Response Portal is designed to allow medical practitioners across the U.S. to safely share and display aggregated metrics from the hospital systems on a single network, to provide complete and real-time information regarding the novel pandemic.

Data may be collected and submitted everyday from the hospital networks across the U.S. and will primarily focus on data regarding the supply of ICU beds and utilization, availability of ventilators, cumulative number of positive, negative and pending coronavirus test results along with number of people discharged.

Seemingly, the newly launched platform carries the ability to leverage data like the availability of local shelter-in-place policies, traffic patterns and to provide information regarding public reactions to the spread of COVID-19.

According to Philip Moyer, Vice President, Industry Sales at Google Cloud, the medical professionals across the U.S. require reliable, precise and timely information to plan for care and respond to surging COVID-19 cases in the region.

For the record, HCA Healthcare utilizes data from nearly 35 million annual patient encounters to enhance care with the help of research and innovation. HCA Healthcare will provide necessary statistical data from over 185 hospitals across the region, structured in a way to comply with HIPAA and other types of restrictions.

In a bid to join and share necessary data, the company has invited groups representing nearly 4,000 hospitals nationwide. The COVID-19 National Response Portal is expected to be available from next week.
