Hella becomes latest member of eSync to expand automobile business

Hella KGaA Hueck & Co., a key German manufacturer of automotive parts, has become a member of the eSync Alliance and will help the current members of the alliance in developing a bi-directional pipeline to electronics equipment across the automotive industry. Rick Kreifeldt, Executive Director at eSync Alliance, has stated that Hella possesses an expertise in lighting technology & electronics in the automotive industry. He further declared that its ability to innovate will help eSync in creating new solutions & business models for the sector.

For the record, the eSync Alliance is a program that helps in promoting OTA (Over-the-Air) updates & diagnostic data solutions across automotive electronics. By joining the alliance, firms are likely to reap benefits through an open & scalable tool created to simplify the development environment. The goal of the eSync Alliance is to facilitate collaborations between vehicle manufacturers, software & module retailers, and tier-1 integrators for developing new solutions for vehicle that comply with eSync standards.

Dr. Rainer Holve, Chief of Digital Innovation at Hella, has proclaimed that its association with eSync Alliance will help the firm in bringing innovations across OTA technology. He further emphasized that the firm’s association with other leading auto component suppliers will assist Hella in developing new solutions.

At the CES 2018 exhibition held in Las Vegas earlier in January, Excelfore Corporation and Hella displayed how the eSync system can be helpful in providing advanced diagnostic solutions via the assistance of analytics that perform functions beyond deciphering the already defined error-codes.

Both the firms demonstrated as to how eSync was utilized for pushing diagnostic software to Hella vehicle body control parts and then retrieving data. Sources cite that the eSync tool also helped in deploying new features in Hella’s headlamp systems, thereby giving OEMs an opportunity to offer customers with improved features.
