Luckin Coffee announces the launch of smart coffee vending machines

Chinese coffee chain, Luckin Coffee Inc. is supposedly trying to expand its market reach by adopting advanced technologies. Recently, the firm revealed plans to enter the unmanned retail market by introducing its "luckin popMINI" smart vending machine and "luckin coffee EXPRESS" smart unmanned coffee machine.

As per reports, the launch would help Luckin Coffee expand its local presence and help take it one step closer to customers. The coffee company also claims to have opened nearly 4,507 self-operated stores by late 2019, making it the biggest coffee chain in China in terms of stores. Claims are also made that the firm’s number of cumulative transacting consumers have grossed over 40 million in 2019.

Incidentally, Luckin Coffee has taken a lead against Coffee chain giant Starbucks, in terms of regional presence in China. Report cites that, in 2019, Starbucks had 4,300 stores in China, whereas Luckin owned approximately 4,500 outlets.

As for the recent launch, the Luckin coffee EXPRESS is claimed to feature Schaerer coffee machines, IIAC Gold Award coffee bean blends from WBC coffee masters and many other high-quality ingredients. The machines would vend freshly brewed drinks with the same taste and quality as in Luckin stores, thus accomplishing the concept "Luckin Coffee, Closer to You".

According to a statement, Jenny Zhiya Qian, Chief Executive Officer, Luckin Coffee, said that the company's store footprint, e-commerce channels and unmanned retail network together create its proprietary omni-channel consumer traffic network.

With its value propositions of high affordability, elevated convenience, and superior quality, Luckin would become a renowned, mass-market FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) brand. The firm is focused on creating a closed-loop smart outlet platform with its products and customer traffic, and is looking forward to continuing its growth in both products and traffic, as well as plans to enhance its brand value in the coming years, said Qian.
