Melanoma Research Alliance raises $20M for new research program

Of late, several medical firms and associations are carrying out novel research programs and funding to support their cause of disease prevention across the globe. One such breakthrough has been achieved by Melanoma research Alliance.

Melanoma Research Alliance, an alliance formed to cure melanoma cancer, has reportedly announced generating a fund of USD 20 million with an intent to supporting the alliance’s research program. Apparently, the non-profit funder raised this fund at its periodic benefit dinner hosted by Sotheby’s in the New York City.

As per trusted sources, the dinner event brought together over more than 240 MRA supporters under the Sotheby’s NYC headquarters to celebrate the overwhelming progress made by the melanoma cancer patients over the past few years.

Reportedly, the event observed the presence of speakers from distinguished domains, i.e., medical oncologist Dr. Jedd Wolchok, the reporter and patient advocate Mary Elizabeth Williams, and a dermat resident Shirin Bajaj. Every speaker’s speech included vital insights into the dramatic progress in the melanoma research, its effect on the other cancers and the other challenges faced by the doctors and patients.

Speaking about the high funds raised, the MRA Co-founder and Chair of the Board, Debra Black, expressed his gratitude to the supporters who ardently helped the alliance in their mission and also made the event a successful one. He further cited that the contributions of the donors ensured progressive funding to back the translational research to aid the patients suffering from melanoma.

Meanwhile, the MRA President and CEO, Michael Kaplan reportedly quoted that the expansion into the innovative research have enabled the MRA to develop an incredible progress in the fight against melanoma. The organization is thrilled to levy huge support from various donors across the globe who have whole heartedly helped in making the progress possible.

For the uninitiated, Melanoma Research Alliance was established in 2007 with great support of Debra and Leon Black to escalate the treatment options and discover a cure of the cancer.
