Royal Philips introduces adaptive intelligence in Northland DHB

Royal Philips has brought forward adaptive intelligence to Northland District Health Board, which is incidentally the first user of the firm’s health informatics system in the ANZ region. Apparently, the health informatics technology works like an assistant, which make use of the available information & contextual awareness to improve the experience of radiologists.

As per sources, Whangarei, a city in the Northland area of New Zealand’s North Island, has become a first ANZ region to use Illumeo, an imaging & informatics system with adaptive intelligence that defines as well as describes the work of a radiologist via medical imaging.

Reports cite that Northland DHB is the first healthcare service provider to launch new Illumeo system apart from the U.S., where it was first inaugurated. The radiologist of Northland DHB, Dr. Alistair Rumball-Smith, has expressed his delight that Northland DHB is the first to use the Illumeo tool. The new Illumeo technology introduced by Philips is believed to accelerate the diagnosis procedure, thereby improving patient care activities through well-informed healthcare decisions.

According to company sources, Illumeo blends with the Phillips IntelliSpace PACS, thereby leading to workspace proficiency for other domains. The built-in intelligence platform of Illumeo automatically registers the choices of Northland DHB radiologists, post which the platform adjusts the user interface and provides tools & measurements to the doctor, influenced by Illumeo’s clinical knowledge.

Fernando Erazo, one of the key officials at Healthcare Informatics & Population Health Management in the Philips APAC division, has been quoted stating that the quantity of information on which the radiologists carry out their research activities is growing by leaps & bounds by the day. In this context, he further added that the new Illumeo tool introduced by Philips is more than likely to support radiologists in making effective & accurate diagnosis of the diseases affecting the human system.
