Skoda aims to develop five electric vehicles within the next two years

Skoda Auto, one of the key players across the vehicle manufacturing sector, has apparently declared that it is going to launch five electric vehicles in the global market by 2020. The CEO of the firm, Bernhard Maier, has stated that the firm is likely to manufacture two electric cars and three plug-in hybrid vehicles within a span of next two years. The Czech based automobile manufacture is also predicted to launch a new plug-in model of the Skoda Superb next year. During the same year the firm will present a pure-electric car model, which is likely to resemble the Citigo-e model of VW across Europe.

Reports state that the Pure Electric Vision E Car Model of Skoda is expected to be launched in 2020 and it is designed keeping in mind Volkswagen’s MEB Platform. Further announcements by the company claim that it will be manufacturing two more electric car models within the next two years that will be sharing the powertrain with its Superb Car Model.

Last year, the CEO of Skoda, had announced that as per its Strategy 2025, the firm will be expanding its model portfolio and will be focusing on electrification of its cars. He had further added that the firm will be introducing its first completely battery-driven SKODA car model in the market by 2020. Reportedly, the company is expecting more growth with the launch of the Skoda Kodiaq SUV, the upgraded version of Skoda Octavia, as well as other new models during 2017.

As per sources, Skoda has already declared that it aims to introduce ten electric cars by 2025, with five of these car models to be launched by 2020, while the rest to be launched after 2020. Digitization, effective connectivity, and innovative mobile solutions are the key foundations of the firm’s Strategy 2025, on the basis of which the Skoda brand would be promoted effectively, claims Maier.
