Target Corporation announces expansion of same-day shipping option

Customers will be able to pay with their Target credit cards, which offer them a discount of 5 percent.

Target Corporation has reportedly announced that it will start same-day delivery option for its customers. As per trusted sources, the latest move of the firm marks an ongoing intense delivery war which involves the giant retailers Walmart and Amazon. The company will offer services in 47 states throughout the country with an additional flat fee of $9.99 per order.

Reportedly, to offer same-day delivery service, Target will leverage Shipt, a membership-based platform offering same-day delivery. For the record, Shipt was acquired by the company in the year 2017 for $550 million.

However, Target shoppers have been able to get orders delivered on the same day till now by subscribing to Shipt membership, which costs $99 per year. This option is still available for every customer, but the company is making it easier for shoppers to opt for same-day delivery on an order-by-order basis or signing up for an annual membership.

Seemingly, the declaration by Target comes amid a flood of activity among online retailers to deliver orders to customers as soon as possible. Both Amazon and Walmart recently unveiled next-day delivery options, with Walmart claiming to reach nearly 75 percent of American customers with faster shipping by the end of the year 2019.

According to reliable sources, with the same-day delivery expansion of Target, 65,000 items on Target.com will have the option to be delivered in as quickly as an hour. Customers will be able to pay with their Target credit cards, which offer them a discount of 5 percent. The same-day delivery option will be incorporated into the Target mobile app before the holidays which is currently live on mobile and desktop web browsers, cited sources.

Dawn Block, Senior Vice President - digital operations, Target, reportedly stated that the company has made it even easier for customers to shop at Target by making same-day delivery available directly within the Target.com experience.
