Tata Communication and Alibaba join hands to transform the business landscape of global enterprises

Tata Communications has inked a deal with Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group- founded in 1999 when Jack Ma launched the website Alibaba.com. This strategic partnership between the two companies has enabled 150 countries including India to connect to the Chinese e-commerce business via ‘Express Connect’. The deal is likely to enable both the companies to become digital transformation partners for their customers to boost productivity and take customer experience to next level. In addition, as per reliable sources, this deal will also safeguard both the companies against threats and help expand their geographical landscape. Through this agreement, Alibaba Cloud’s Express Connect and Tata Communications’ IZO™ Private Connect service are expected to be connected via cloud technology.

The IZO Platform is an integrated and flexible cloud platform that helps to navigate complexity for a more flexible business performance and is designed to offer seamless user experience over the network. Also, by means of this partnership, global enterprises will now have access to a secure connection between the VPC (Virtual Private Clouds), the Internet, and end user networks.

Tata communications made these announcements to stock exchanges in the second week of June at Alibaba Cloud’s Computing Conference held in Shanghai. In an official statement, it has also been revealed that this provider of telecom solutions and services holds more than 25% of the world’s Internet routes and claims it to be the largest wholly-owned subsea-cable network internationally. Tata Communications’ IZO™ cloud enablement platform also allows enterprises to connect and construct their cloud in the way they desire, be it public, private or hybrid.

Alibaba Cloud provides a comprehensive range of products in database management, security, storage, computing, and networking. By accessing Alibaba Cloud’s Express Connect through IZO™ Private Connect service, renowned enterprises are likely to scale their cloud connectivity and allotting of capacity to the Alibaba Cloud.  This is likely to strengthen the Chinese e-commerce industry and enable it to expand its global reach via business-to-business, business-to- consumer, and consumer-to-consumer sales via web portals. Moreover, retail market in China  which is projected to grow at an annual rate of 9.64% over 2017-2021, will further favor this collaboration.

The deputy general manager of Alibaba Cloud Global, Yeming Wang, was quoted stating that this collaboration would bring about exciting propositions for the enterprises across the world to penetrate the Chinese market. Vice-versa, this deal is also expected to help Chinese enterprises go global with ease and convenience.

As per the latest reports on the subject, Alibaba Cloud will set up its first cloud data center in Mumbai.
