West China Hospital & Oxford University Press launch medical journal

The Oxford University Press, the largest university press across the globe, in association with the West China Hospital of Sichuan University, has declared the introduction of the Precision Clinical Medicine. Incidentally, the medical journal has been launched with an intention to provide novel methods, theories, and even evidence with regards to for disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

For the uninitiated, precision medicine is a relatively nascent medical concept that has gained massive traction as it focuses on exclusively tailoring medical care as per the individual’s cellular, molecular, and genomic information. This is seemingly expected to target patients for specialized decisions in disease management. Amidst this scenario, the launch of the Precision Clinical Medicine comes as a welcome move, as the peer-reviewed, open access, international journal will be publishing reviews, editorials, case reports, research articles, and myriad points of view with regards to the developments in precision medicine.

The editorial director of Asia Journals at the Oxford University Press, Rhodri Jackson, has reportedly been quoted stating that the organization is immensely excited to launch Precision Clinical Medicine in association with the West China Hospital. He says that right since its Chengdu-based medical center, it was rather coherent that the institution had recognized a potential domain which needed a high-grade journal, which the two parties have now launched successfully.

Jackson made it a point to further state that the involved parties would work in tandem to make the Precision Clinical Medicine one of the most pre-eminent journals in its arena.

Adding his own two cents regarding the launch, Dr. Weimin Li, the editor-in-chief of the Precision Clinical Medicine, states that West China Hospital is rather proud to introduce this journal in partnership with the Oxford University Press, especially since the medical center has already set up a precision medicine-oriented development strategy for the next decade. He further hopes that the journal would provide a novel communication platform for the latest R&D activities and the clinical application of precision medicine.
