Retail technology private company, AiFi, has reportedly joined forces with Wundermart, to initially launch over 20 autonomous convenience stores in the first quarter of 2021. For the record, the latter company creates unmanned, data-driven retail solutions for marketplaces.
Following the partnership, Wundermart would deploy the computer vision technology from AiFi into its existing stores spread across Europe to improve the shopping experience, limit the friction at checkouts, upgrade the inventory management, as well as to offer in-depth consumer insights. Furthermore, the technology would be incorporated in the plug and play SaaS package for autonomous retail, called Wunderware, and would be accessible to all the current retailers and formula owners.
It has also been reported that Wundermart and Wunderware are looking forward to launching over 1000 locations that are equipped with AiFi's technology.
Apparently, the camera-only solutions from the privately-held firm provide cost-effective and easy-to-deploy shopping experiences whilst delivering top-notch industry standards in terms of product recognition, shopper tracking, and receipt accuracies. Taking note of this, Wundermart is looking forward to deploying AiFi's OASIS in order to track automatic shop replacements from suppliers, and to bring enhanced performance and data integrity.
Co-founder and CEO of AiFi, Steve Gu, revealed that the pandemic has brought major shifts in lifestyles and shopping patterns. He stated that this change has paved the way for innovations, and expressed delight in partnering with Wundermart to make its unmanned marketplaces completely contactless. He further disclosed that the use of computer vision technology would enhance Wundermart's convenient in-store experience.
On the other hand, the co-founder of Wundermart, Laurens de Kleine, quoted that AiFi's technology is assisting the company in coming up with a convenient and safe shopping experience for their shoppers. He further revealed that the partnership is headed towards the transformation of the future of retail and that the systems would be utilized to enhance the accuracy of automated restocking, which is ranked as one of the major functions in the company’s total solutions for autonomous retail.
