Ambani’s JioMart unveils a new website to deliver orders across India

Jio Platforms, the top telecom operator along with Jio Retail, which is the top retail chain has recently unveiled JioMart’s new website and has begun taking orders in a large amount from tier 1, tier 2 and metro cities that also include Chennai, Bangalore, Bokaro, Ahmedabad, Dehradun, Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, Bathinda and Gurgaon. As per a Reliance executive, JioMart is live currently and has been delivering in 200 cities as well as towns in India.

Apparently, the service had been available across three suburbs of Mumbai before it decided to expand recently. The service covers dairy items under staples along with vegetables and fruits as well as several other grocery products as it has made its pitch to different households in the country.

Jio Platforms, led by Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance, has secured over $10 billion over the previous month by having sold about 17% of the stake. It has also gathered more than 388 million subscribers, which is much more than the other telecom operators in the nation.

Several of Ambani’s firms have begun entering the market as prominent competitors such as Flipkart, MilkBasket, Grofers, Amazon and BigBasket.

An American e-commerce giant recently made an entry in the food delivery market of India in order to challenge the duopoly of Zomato backed by Ant-Financial and Swiggy, backed by Prosus. Amazon has been making a major push for hiring across India and has been seeking to hire nearly 50,000 seasonal workers to be able to meet the rising demand on the platform.

Reliance Retail by Ambani had been founded in the year 2006 and is among the largest retailer in terms of revenue in India. It has been serving over 3.5 million customers every week with the help of its close to 10,000 stores in over 6,500 towns and cities.

JioMart shall have Flipkart and Amazon at its sights, however, in the current form the firm shall prove to be a bigger problem for BigBasket and Grofers, which are the main delivery startups for grocery in India.
