Aspargo acquires oral spray formulation patent rights from Farmalider

Aspargo Laboratories, a renowned US-based clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, has reportedly inked a new agreement with Spanish pharmaceutical company, Farmalider, S.A., to acquire exclusive international patent rights to its proprietary orally-consumed spray suspension formulation, Sildenafil Oral Spray (sildenafil citrate), for over five million common ordinary shares.

The American pharma firm had previously purchased the exclusive U.S. patent rights for Sildenafil Oral Spray in January 2020 from Farmalider. Sildenafil Oral Spray (sildenafil citrate) is a crucial ingredient in VIAGRA, and is a new and convenient administration route for the over-the-shelf drug to treat erectile dysfunction.

The oral spray formulation can be given through a spray pump, which pumps out approximately 12.5 mg of sildenafil citrate per push, also known as ASP-001. It can also be administered through a single liquid unit that dispenses 100 mg per unit, also known as ASP-002.

Back in May of 2020, the company announced the outcomes of its pre-IND (Investigational New Drug) meeting with the U.S. FDA where the regulatory body addressed the company’s questions and offered guidance over its Sildenafil Oral Spray to treat ED (erectile dysfunction). The FDA was in favor of a single dose bioequivalent trial comparing Sildenafil Oral Spray with VIAGRA® tablets as the base for approval and further deemed the 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway suitable for the program.

Michael Demurjian, CEO and Founder of Aspargo, stated that the acquisition of exclusive international Sildenafil Oral Spray patent rights is an important opportunity for the company.

Demurjian further added that the erectile dysfunction industry falls among the most expansive markets of the healthcare sector since men are increasingly looking for a more convenient and efficient solution to resolve this condition. Recently, after the firm successfully completed its recent $7.5 million investment round, the company has become a rapidly expanding international specialty pharmaceutical firm.
