Asus announces plans to strengthen its offline retail presence in India

AsusTek Computer Inc., popularly known as Asus, has reportedly announced plans to strengthen its offline retail presence across India. The firm, which had 7.5% of total market share in the Indian PC segment in the Q3 of 2020, presently has its products available at more than 6,000 retail points together with online channels. Asus will add 1,000 retail points over the next year as it is witnessing strong demand for gaming PCs.

Speaking on the increased demand in the nation, Arnold Su, Business Head for Consumer and Gaming PC sales at Asus said that after the relaxation of lowdown rules, the demand has increased significantly. From 2.5 lakh units per month, the sales for the sector have doubled and the trend is anticipated to continue for some as people continue to study and work from home, he added.

Sources cite that Asus saw a 39% growth in October 2020 as compared to the similar month of last year. Gaming has been a key growth driver for the consumer PC segment for the past few months, and particularly in the festive month of October. The company is looking to capitalize on this increased demand.

From the past few months, Asus has successfully strengthened both its offline and online presence in India.  It now has 120 exclusive stores in India and is present in many premium shop in shops and points of sale at numerous dealer points. It has 1,100 such points of sale and 5,000 conventional dealer shops - which takes the count to over 6,000 offline sales channels across India.

In February, the company started onboarding its offline retail partners on a digital platform to assist them to connect with consumers. Su also added that the firm is working on adding around 1,000 more retail points over the ensuing years.
