Dada Group partners with Ferrero for new snack food retail model

The new retail model will help Ferrero improve brand reach to younger online customers in China

Chinese on-demand delivery and retail platform, Dada Group has inked a strategic agreement with chocolate and confectionery behemoth, Ferrero to build a novel on-demand retail model for snack food. The partnership aims on developing a model that promotes the digitalization of the snack food sector for increasing online sales.

In addition to this, the two firms plan to launch marketing events like Supermarket Brands Day, smart promoters and targeted user management.

Commenting on the current market scenario in the retail space, Mauro De Felip, GM of Ferrero China, said that there is a dynamic change in China’s retail sector and in consumer lifestyle which has urged companies to keep track of acute industry insight to maintain a competitive edge in the market.

He explained that through in-depth cooperation with Dada Group’s JDDJ, Ferrero hopes to make use of the opportunities in the gripping O2O market, keeping leading position in the new retail era.

JDDJ’s Head of Branding Business, Wenqi Yang stated that the company will work with Ferrero to explore a new snack food on-demand retail model, and build in-depth cooperation in digital marketing and targeted user management to drive sales of Ferrero products online.

Yang added that the two companies will unitedly bring leisure time to consumers with snack food via on-demand retail and delivery.

Incidentally, this is not the first time the two companies have struck a partnership. In May 2020, JDDJ and Ferrero initiated a cooperation partnership, under which high-quality and frequent marketing events led to a steady increase in online sales of Ferrero products.

Meanwhile, sources claim that that the recent partnership will bring new growth driver in sales, helping Ferrero reach younger customers who are mostly not covered by offline channels, as well as make them its new digital user assets.
