Flipkart extents delivery reach by 80% to cover more pincodes in India
  • The e-commerce site has managed to grow its reach to an estimate of 19,200 PIN codes from its prior 10,660 last year for the delivery of huge appliances.

  • The company has also raised its delivery capacity by 14 times in 2019.

Flipkart, a Bengaluru based e-commerce company, has recently announced that it has increased its delivery reach by 80 percent, a move aimed to cover all pin codes in India in order to prepare for its big billion day sales, commencing on September 29.

Speaking on the announcement, Ajay Yadav, Senior Vice President, Flipkart, said that the company is extending its reach to new regions during this festive season, with an intention to cover approximately every serviceable pin-codes present in the nation.

Moreover, the firm is delighted that this year its customers from tier 2 cities and Metros, who earlier did not have access to the company’s massive variety of appliances could now shop from its entire range of appliances, further bolstering its position in the Indian e-commerce market, claims Mr. Yadav.

Expansion of the reach would allow small town Flipkart users to compare and purchase large appliances like washing machines, refrigerators and Smart TVs.

Sources cite that, for about a year, smaller towns displayed outstanding growth in the Android Smart TV segment with a 5 times growth in demand, when compared to the Metro cities which recorded a constant and gradual growth.

Moreover, products like air conditioners and water purifiers are also showing a gradual growth, due to increasing awareness about the latest technology, the company cites.

For the record, Flipkart has the biggest facility for large electronic appliances and goods, that is built across 3.5 lakh square feet in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The company has expanded its delivery capability by 14 times in 2019 which is massive when compared to 2018.
