HEINEKEN, an international brewer, has reportedly extended its relationship with a software and consultancy company, Blue Yonder, to drive its demand planning capabilities. The brewing company will implement the ML-powered demand planning solution of Blue Yonder to develop accurate forecasting capabilities and meet the changing consumer demand amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been focusing on expanding its digital capabilities to ensure automated, integrated, and accurate forecasting.
Blue Yonder will offer solutions that help achieve greater forecast accuracy, new user experience, and always-on planning capabilities. This improved demand signal will feed into its Luminate Platform to result in high supply-chain performances. Its customer, HEINEKEN, has already utilized its end-to-end supply chain planning solutions to orchestrate and optimize decisions related to supply chain, finance, operations, and sales. Furthermore, the brewing company is planning to deploy a new demand planning solution in 5 of its largest operating companies across the globe.
According to HEINEKEN’s Director of Global Supply Chain Planning, Marc Bekkers, the company has embarked on a journey to become a leading connected brewer by making a significant shift from the fragmented to a seamless digital interaction across the value chain. The company considers ML as a critical component in developing this integrated cross-functional planning capability.
The demand planning solution of Blue Yonder, powered by Microsoft Azure, delivers insights to the supply chain to ensure profitable business decisions using ML and AI. This solution can ingest several external and internal influencing factors to offer a unique demand projection, along with calculated risks and impacts.
Blue Yonder EMEA’s President, Johan Reventberg, has reportedly cited that the company is planning to continue assisting HEINEKEN in expanding its supply-chain footprint and developing highly accurate forecasts with its ML- and AI-driven demand planning solution. The combination of its capabilities with Microsoft Azure will also help the brewer continuously meet the demand and solidify its position as a leading beverage manufacturer worldwide.
