IKEA set to deliver its home furnishing products in Bengaluru

Retail furniture company IKEA has reportedly declared that it is set to deliver its wide product range of home furnishing in Bengaluru.

IKEA has a variety of home furnishing products including beds and mattresses, textiles, storage & organizations, home decorations, lightings, outdoor & bathroom products, appliances & kitchenware, lightings, and cleaning & laundry products.

The Swedish company’s first retail store opened in Hyderabad in 2018, followed by online stores across Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad in 2019. It opened its second retail store in December 2020 in Navi Mumbai.

The company also launched its e-commerce website and mobile application on June 2021 across Vadodara, Surat, and Ahmedabad. Consumers from these cities can shop online or via the app and choose from over 8,000 products.

IKEA has committed investments of over Rs. 10,500 crore, out of which the company has invested Rs. 4,500 crore in Hyderabad and over Rs. 2000 crore to open four stores across Bengaluru.

Chief Sustainability Officer and CEO of IKEA India, Peter Betzel, stated that the company considers Karnataka as an important market with Bengaluru being one of the largest markets for home furnishing in India. He further added that with the unveiling of the e-commerce channel, IKEA has taken the first steps toward a comprehensive offering to the market.

Mr. Betzel has planned to open a big, 400,000 sq. ft. IKEA store in Nagasandra in one year. People visiting the IKEA store will witness a greener and faster commute as the store will be adjacent to the Nagasandra metro station. He has also revealed plans to open a city center-type store within Bengaluru to expand the consumer base and increase their accessibility.

IKEA’s presence in Karnataka will create immense job opportunities, enhance retail practices, and allow skill development.

The company has plans to directly engage over 2,500 coworkers, maintaining a diversity of 50% and generating over 1,200 indirect jobs associated with IKEA’s business operations.
