InnoScot Health has recently made it to the headlines for its latest partnership with Heriot-Watt University to accelerate the innovation in healthcare and medical technologies in Scotland.

According to reliable sources, the 5-year agreement would foresee Heriot-Watt University’s Medical Device Manufacturing Center (MDMC) collaborating with InnoScot to pitch in new ideas and innovations from healthcare experts to life.

For the record, MDMC is a consortium that includes the University of Edinburgh, Robert Gordon University, and the University of Glasgow. The coalition is known to support Scotland’s small and medium enterprises to translate medical device concepts into commercial products.

Besides, the partnership would highlight identification of new medical and healthcare technologies and advancements of prototype medical devices by including doctors, clinicians, nurses, and engineering students.

In addition to the new R&D ambitions, both firms would work to design joint Continual Professional Development and training programs that develop staff from both enterprises in regulatory issues pertaining to the medical devices.

Commenting on the recent collaboration, Executive Chair of InnoScot Health, Graham Watson mentioned that the mutually beneficial pact currently builds on the company’s successful long-standing relations with Heriot-Watt University. It also pools the firm’s collective expertise in the field.

It has been speculated that the latest partnership would also enable healthcare and medical opportunities in the first instance with expansive possibilities in the near future.

Graham noted that Heriot-Watt's enterprise credentials and status as an innovations and research innovation leader would be able to match InnoScot’s ambitions while helping the firm underpin its development goals in the sector.

Meanwhile, Professor Marc Desmulliez, Manager of MDMC at Heriot-Watt University quoted that the new strategic collaboration would further boost Scotland’s innovative MedTech SMEs, eventually benefitting and enhancing the patient care.
