JCB unites with ACI Worldwide to boost merchant acquiring capabilities

JCB International, a credit card company, has reportedly partnered with ACI Worldwide, a payment system company, to increase merchant acquiring capabilities across the globe.

The Tokyo-based company has completed the rollout of its payment service, Web API, worldwide. This service includes a dispute function and is based on the implementation of the ACI Secure eCommerce solution of JCB. It can accelerate JCB Card acceptance for merchants, acquirers, and PSPs (payments service providers) in Asia and globally. Additionally, the dispute function allows the acquirers to request representment to reduce chargebacks & receive chargeback alerts.

Web API provides both clearing and authorization capabilities to the acquirers. After the complete rollout of this payment service, PSPs and acquirers can assist merchants in providing additional payment options to the JCB cardmembers. Nearly 35 million global merchant locations accept JCB, using ACI Secure eCommerce as a JCB Web API payment service.

As per the statement made by Debbie Guerra, Executive Vice President of ACI Worldwide, the extensive capabilities of ACI Secure eCommerce, such as the mobile commerce software development kit, will enable JCB to simplify and streamline operations as well as expand the global reach. The company is targeting to support the long-term growth and global businesses of JCB through the full rollout of Web API payment service.

According to Kenta Seya, Executive Vice President of JCB International, the ACI Secure eCommerce solution, which underpins Web API service, is proven with PSPs and merchants across industry verticals and geographies. The company’s service has been supporting payments as well as dispute processing with Web API, thereby boosting its footprint in Asia and across the globe.

Apart from the recent partnership, in December 2020, SBI partnered with NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) and JCB to launch a platinum contactless debit card, SBI RuPay JCB, to allow both contact and contactless transactions.
