Matterport announces partnership with Apex to digitize built world

Matterport, Inc., a 3D media platform developer, has recently announced a partnership with Apex, a consulting, engineering, and field services firm. This partnership deal has been entered with an objective to allow retail brands across Canada and the U.S. to seamlessly collect, access, and examine building data and information from their stores in one place.

The latest collaboration will help retail enterprises efficiently manage stores and boost decision-making capabilities through the adoption of a joint solution known as ApexView powered by Matterport. Additionally, Apex will enable its clients, including Fresh Market and Starbucks, to digitize the entire store portfolio ranging from 25-25,000 locations by leveraging Matterport's spatial data.

ApexView powered by Matterport will provide enterprise customers a customized online dashboard and artificial intelligence-enabled search engine to enable enterprises to gain a better understanding of the store survey data. This process will create detailed digital twins that include dimensional information and high-fidelity visual appearance of the stores, to offer unparalleled intelligence of the building assets from any device at any point in time for the retailers.

Notably, the new joint solution leverages the deep spatial indexing capabilities of Matterport to help the retail and restaurant brands turn imagery into structured data to capture full space audit. Through object recognition, they will also be able to manage facilities across multiple locations. For example, fixtures such as lighting, flooring, and shelves can be automatically and digitally counted, while the retail facility teams can rapidly locate serial numbers and equipment imagery to ensure efficient repair. 

Additionally, retailers can effectively collaborate with partners and vendors in estates, operations, facilities, and design automation of store audits at scale, allow facilities management teams globally to conduct virtual site visits, and rapidly move projects forward with the help of the new solution.

Through the latest partnership with Apex, Matterport will further advance its mission of indexing and digitizing the built world to assist users in exploring and focusing on usable data in a single space.
