Reliance Brands Ltd (RBL), Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL)’s brand licensing arm, has reportedly signed a long-term franchise agreement with Tod's S.p.A, an Italian luxury, to retail the brand in India.
With this agreement, RBL becomes the brand’s official retailer for all of the brand’s categories such as handbags, accessories, and footwear in the Indian market.
RBL will take over the management of current channels. It will focus on improving the potential of the brand in the market and reinforcing its digital footprint.
Darshan Mehta, MD of Reliance Brands remarked that this move will uphold the core values of Tod’s in the Indian market. He added that Tod’s has crafted a distinct space in the global luxury vertical by restoring top-class craftsmanship that can offer innovative products for new consumers.
Mr. Mehta also stated that the company is delighted to collaborate with the Italian brand to justify its core value of outstanding craftsmanship, quality, and seamless refinement in the Indian market.
Notably, Tod's has been operating in the country since 2008 with single-brand stores in Palladium, Mumbai, and New Delhi’s DLF Emporio along with multi-brand e-commerce platform Ajio Luxe.
Carlo Alberto Beretta, Tod's General Brand Manager, noted that the company decided to collaborate with Reliance Brands owing to its common vision for the luxury market of India.
Beretta added that the brand is pleased to ally with India’s leading luxury retailer due to their common passion for quality and a sophisticated, modern lifestyle will enable both the parties to fully explore the capability of this crucial partnership.
For the record, Reliance Industries Limited has its presence across materials, energy, entertainment, retail, and digital services.
The company generates indirect employment of over 50 lakhs. Its Jio venture has about 426.2 million subscribers and ranked 55th in Forbes Global 2000. The organization is the first Indian retailer to cross revenue of USD 10 billion.
