Sabre Corporation acquires Nuvola to improve hospitality retailing

Travel tech firm Sabre Corporation has reportedly completed the acquisition of Nuvola, a guest engagement and hotel management software company, to enrich its hospitality retailing solutions.

With this acquisition, Sabre intends to overcome the on-property satisfaction challenges faced by hoteliers offering a broad range of attributes and ancillaries.

The transaction comprises the consolidation of Nuvola employees to Sabre along with Nuvola tech and guest enablement software.

President of Sabre Hospitality Solutions Scott Wilson stated that the company intends to expand hospitality retailing beyond the current industrial trend of selling the room along with limited ancillaries.

Wilson added that hoteliers need new retailing solutions and strategies to help them deliver relevant, memorable guest experiences. Nuvola’s capabilities will enable Sabre to fulfill every aspect of the retailing process, allowing customers to create differentiated guest experiences.

Founded in 2011, Nuvola’s cloud-based solutions include concierge and guest messaging services, housekeeping management as well as task management.

Juan Carlos Abello, CEO and Founder of Nuvola noted that the existing independent Nuvola offerings will continue to improve on-property efficiencies.

The integration of Nuvola’s capabilities into the existing property management and retailing solutions of Sabre will untap new avenues for hoteliers to deliver a smooth, differentiated guest experience.

A week ago, Sabre registered monetary gains across its distribution, IT, and travel solutions and hospitality for Q1 of this year.

The company registered overall revenue at USD 585 million as opposed to USD 327 million Y-o-Y (year-on-year) with a USD 80 million operating loss in comparison to the USD 203 million loss during the first quarter of last year.

In other news, Sabre signed a new deal with luxury travel platform Bear Luxe Japan to expand its geographic footprint for member hotels whilst elevating experiences for travelers.

The new agreement will strengthen Sabre’s expansive footprint in Japan.
