Zoho Corp, an Indian software development company, has reportedly confirmed the launch of Zoho Commerce, an e-commerce platform that will enable small retailers to develop their own e-commerce sites.
From the past year the company had been running a beta version with 3,500 retailers worldwide and about 10% of them were in India, VP-Product management of Zoho Corp, Hyther Nizam said.
Apparently, in India there are more than 480 million internet users and this number will exponentially rise to over 600 million by 2021. In addition, the total size of e-commerce market is approximately $22 billion, which is nearly 4.5% of the total retail in India, anticipated to grow to $50 billion by 2023.
Zoho Commerce is supposedly GST compliant and is powered by Zoho’s AI assistant Zia. The product would be integrated with current Zoho backend solutions such as Zoho Campaigns, its email campaign software, and Zoho Books, the accounting software, Mr. Nizam mentioned.
The company is currently serving over 40 products across different business categories, including, customer support, accounting, and sales and marketing.
According to Mr. Nizam, unlike existing companies that provided the same service where the retailer has to pay on each transaction basis, the company would charge only a flat monthly fee on a monthly GMV of up to Rs 25 lakh.
Zoho Corp will implement a bottom up approach by starting with small and medium retailers. The company would also look to educate the merchants about how to run email campaigns, increase traffic to their website, and carry social media marketing.
Zoho Corp, a software development company in India, was founded in 1996 by Tony Thomas and Sridhar Vembu and is headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. With over 40 million users globally, over 40 products of Zoho cater to sales and marketing, support and collaboration, finance and recruitment needs efficiently.
